The newest confirmation from a mass shooting in a Newtown, CT elementary school was at least 27 possibly killed. This is a very unhappy situation but I feel that I must speak my opinions on the matter. People are going to say that we should assault gun rights further due to events like this. I say no. Firearms are not to blame. Criminals are to blame. Both politicians and uneducated citizens look at mass shootings and blame firearm owners across the country. Politicians have an agenda and it is to misinform people about the truth. They want people to feel that owning a firearm is a privilege that can be taken away and not a confirmed and protected human right.
While the situation in CT is unhappy and unfortunate, it would be worse to make a casualty of our freedoms. Banning firearms and restricting their ownership doesn't make anyone safe. Unarmed people are victims and this has been a reality since the nineteenth century. The security forces so many people foolishly rely on are only armed for their own protection and can not be trusted to be there for your safety. They weren't able to safe 27 lives today. If all the teachers were armed then maybe someone could have stopped this person. For whatever reason, the people abandons sanity and logic and lets the politicians judge that our right to self-defense can be regulated away and for our "own good" somehow.
Interestingly enough, does anyone find it beyond "coincidence" that governments always seek out new anti-firearm legislation when something like this happens? They use this as an excuse to go after our (the people's) firearms? I can not know with certainty but something like this would be in the best interest of the anti-firearm people that want to destroy our freedoms. If true, then this is yet another tragedy that may bring the erosion of the Constitution. Was the shooter medicated and made to commit such acts? We will likely never know. He is dead and the state will likely sweep any evidence away so none can know of it if it had a hand in the events that occurred.
You may say I shouldn't "politicize" this but everyone will do so. I am trying to warn people that the state will try and use this to crush our right to self-defense even further. People should not be so easily misled. We need to stand against tyranny.
In other news, I realized now that this is my 50th article...yay!!!...^_^.....
